I've seen this quote a lot: "Happiest is the heart that beats for others." And I've often wondered whether beating for other people excluded beating for yourself. I mean, do you neglect yourself so that you can be there for other people? I spent a whole lot of my life doing just that. The love pie, as it were, was dispersed to every other person but because there was no extra dough coming from me to give, it left me feeling empty, too. Not a system I'd recommend, oh bloglets.

but something has been clicking recently. a heart beating for others is happiest _because_ it is giving to others. and that the gift to others actually is the dough needed to give a more complete love pie.
