ok, so i know i said i'd skip those stories about jasper jones, but after mary's plea for humor, i realized that some of my funniest stories come from little j. as mary said yesterday while we were on the phone, jasper had a "play date" last night. i know, i know...but socialization is good for the little guy, especially being cooped up in the no-windowed (ok, no light) little one bedroom apartment. so, dr. pat (a friend who used to teach dave's ccd classes) came over- we were going to do a test-run to see if her cat, keedee, and little j jones could be in the same place for a long period of time, since dr. pat would be going away. first of all, let's just say that cat was in a HUGE carrier...way bigger than jasper j's.
ok, here's the problem with our little plan. keedee didn't have his claws clipped. dr. pat said she'd done a little preliminary clipping so that his claws weren't "like daggers." let's just say-- j jones would've been bloodied up in no time judging by the length of this cat's claws. and, being the good mother that i am, i wouldn't let keedee near jasper j without a claw clipping. you could say that clipping keedee's claws takes a whole lot o' skill. we first attempted without any protective covering of arms or hands...that quickly changed. keedee brought out his claws in full-force....didn't break any skin. so, i suited up-- put on a fleece jacket and gloves. Except the gloves were the bigger ones...and made manipulating clippers a smidgen difficult. and after an hour and a half of hissing, clawing me, and failed clipping, we gave up. no playmate for j jones :(
