i had lunch with a former boss of mine today, and she said something that startled me, "most people your age don't even have the awareness you have or think about the things you're thinking about." it was strange that it came as a shock to me, but it did. i just sort of sat there, surprised by her comment. i mean, coming from Sacred Heart, it's sort of hard to get away from the "to whom much is given, much is expected" quote. but i guess i didn't think i was so different from everyone else. i mean, doesn't every kid who's never had a need or want for anything (because everything has always been provided for them) think about how they can live in a way that gives to people who haven't had these advantages? and, if that's not how other people think, what is expected from the people who do?
