if you wanna sing out...

hey horstmanns and other blog readers! this past friday, i began my venture back in the world of orchestral music. yes, yes, i've dabbled here and there before, but dang, it was cool to hear the new york philaharmonic at the kimmel center. it reminded me of my former aspirations to be part of the philadelphia orchestra. and last night, i picked up my flute and played an hour's worth of classical music, surprising myself at times for remembering the tunes. i felt a bit like the musicians of fantasia playing the Nutcracker Suite, excerpts from "Carmen," and other pieces adapted for the solo flute. how awesome it would be to play as part of a larger ensemble, with strings, horns, and percussion!
